The hotel takes its name from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni, which had its world premiere at Prague's Estates Theatre in 1787 and remains part of the theatre's repertoire to this day. Built in 1995, the building itself makes a striking architectural statement: a large square structure with curved, undulating walls and rounded corners, topped by a central glass dome, standing on raised ground that makes it visible from a number of vantage points across the city.
